The U.S. Mission Vietnam – U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City is seeking 12- 14 part-time, unpaid university student interns for the Public Affairs Section (PAS).
Work hours: Part-time (16-20 hours/week)
Length of Internship Program: Up to twelve (12) months
Internship duration: February 2025 – September 2025
The PAS Internship program benefits both the U.S. Consulate General and student interns by providing a valuable educational experience to students while assisting the Consulate General accomplish important mission goals.
PAS Student Interns will undertake various daily responsibilities crucial to supporting the American Center (AC), Education USA Center (EdUSA), Cultural Team, Press Team, Digital Team, RELO Team, Fulbright Team, and Resource Coordination Team (RCT). PAS Student Interns will be responsible for daily tasks of running the American Center to include greeting patrons and ensuring that they adhere to the Center regulations; re-shelving books, magazines and DVDs; assisting in inventorying American Center (AC) and EducationUSA (EdUSA) collection and maintaining client database. Interns will also support programs, events, educational outreach, Facebook and other social media activities (e.g. editing e-products), promote AC/EdUSA products and activities and other administrative tasks as required. Interns will receive mandatory job training. The majority of duties will be performed in English.
Applicants must address each requirement listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
1. Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation in the program.
2. Students who are either Vietnamese citizens or Vietnamese permanent legal residents are eligible for the intern program. For permanent legal residents, a valid legal residency permit is required for consideration.
3. Students must be in good academic standing at their current educational institution and provide a certified transcript and must provide written permission from the educational institution in which the student is enrolled.
4. Students must be currently enrolled as a college/university student in Vietnam through the entire duration of the internship.
5. Student must be able to obtain and hold the medical and security certification from the Consulate.

1. Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a dynamic team
2. Language requirement: Must be fluent in Speaking/Reading/Writing English (this will be tested).
PLEASE NOTE: INTERNS ARE NOT CONSIDERED U.S. CONSULATE GENERAL EMPLOYEES
1. The intern will not be considered as a Federal employee.
2. There will be NO employment benefits associated with this position: annual leave accrual, sick leave, etc.
3. There will be NO compensation or payment.
